SYDNEY

SYDNEY
In the space of two centuries, Sydney has transformed itself from a British penal colony to a thriving cosmopolitan metropolis, a financial capital of the Asia-Pacific region, and an international tourist center with a population of close to four million. Located near the southern end of Australia's eastern coast, it is the largest city on the Australian continent, the capital of New South Wales, and one of the world's largest metropolitan areas. The city's dominant feature has always been its stunning physical location on one of the world's most beautiful harbors.
In the second half of the twentieth century, Sydney grew from a primarily Anglo-Saxon enclave to a multiethnic city whose cultural sophistication is symbolized by the unique outlines of its famous harbor-front opera house. The twenty-first century was ushered in dramatically with the 2000 Olympic Games, which spurred the city to reinvent itself yet again for a new millennium.

SHANGHAI

SHANGHAI
Shanghai is the second of the most populous city in China and the most poplular city proper in the world. It is one of the four direct-controlled municipalities of China, with a population of more than 24 million as of 2014. It is a globalfinancial centre, and a transport hub with the world's busiest container port.Located in the Yangtze River Delta in East China, Shanghai sits on the south edge of the mouth of the Yangtze in the middle portion of the Chinese coast. The municipality borders the provinces of Jiangsu and Zhejiang to the north, south and west, and is bounded to the east by the East China Sea.
A major administrative, shipping, and trading town, Shanghai grew in importance in the 19th century due to trade and recognition of its favourable port location and economic potential. The city was one of five forced open to foreign trade following the British victory over China in the First Opium War while the subsequent 1842 Treaty of Nanking and 1844 Treaty of Whampoa allowed the establishment of the Shanghai International Settlement and the French Concession. The city then flourished as a center of commerce between China and other parts of the world (predominantly Western countries), and became the primary financial hub of theAsia-Pacific region in the 1930s. However, with the Communist Party takeover of the mainland in 1949, trade was limited to socialist countries, and the city's global influence declined. In the 1990s, the economic reforms introduced by Deng Xiaoping resulted in an intense re-development of the city, aiding the return of finance and foreign investment to the city.
Shanghai has been described as the "showpiece" of the booming economy of mainland China; renowned for its Lujiazui skyline, museums and historic buildings, such as those along The Bund, the City God Temple and the Yu Garden.

Kolkata

The City of joy

Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) is the capital of India's West Bengal state. Founded as an East India Company trading post, it was India's capital under the British Raj from 1773–1911. Today it’s known for its grand colonial architecture, art galleries and cultural festivals. It’s also home to Mother House, headquarters of the Missionaries of Charity, founded by Mother Teresa, whose tomb is on site. Located on the east bank of the Hooghly River, Kolkata truly holds the essence of eastern India. Being a historical city, Kolkata is home to numerous palaces, monuments and temples bearing architectural significance. Kolkata stands out mainly because of its authentic traditions, and grand celebrations in more than 2000 puja pandals.

Victoria memorial kolkata

From an obscure village on the banks of the Hooghly river, Kolkata evolved into the capital of Great Britain’s Indian empire. Today, this vibrant city with its distinct imperial flavour is the capital of the communal state of West Bengal.
The image most people have of Calcutta is one of abject poverty and misery— the residual effect of the many years the media focused on Mother Teresa’s good works. Despite this unfortunate perception, Kolkata (as the Communist-ruled West Bengal Capital became known in 2001) attracts its fair share of visitors, many of whom are pleasantly surprised by the seductive charms of this intoxicating city.

Venice

Venice, the capital of northern Italy’s Veneto region, is built on more than 100 small islands in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. It has no roads, just canals – including the Grand Canal thoroughfare – lined with Renaissance and Gothic palaces. The central square, Piazza San Marco, contains St. Mark’s Basilica, which is tiled with byzantine mosaics, and the camoanile bell tower offering views of the city's red roofs. Venice, alongside with Paris, is probably the most romantic city in the world. Well, at least for those who are in love. But what is not the opinion of a group, the very true fact about Venice is that Venice is beautiful and charming any time of the year. Venice is known for its bridges. There are 417 bridges in Venice and 72 of those are private.

hundreds of river canals flow through the heart of the city.

Carnivals and festivals are the main attractions for tourism. During Carnival, laws prohibiting wearing of expensive lace were suspended.Every year 18 million tourists visit Venice. That’s, on average, around 50 thousand people per day. The peak time is during the carnival with more than three million visitors. In 1608 Council of Ten approved wearing masks only during the carnival. The ones who would broke the law were heavily punished, from two years in prison to public beating and binding to the pillar of shame. There are three types of masks: bauta, moretta i larva. Bauta usually completely covers face, doesn’t have mouth hole and it has a lot of gilt. Sometimes  it covers only upper parts of face so that you can talk, eat and drink, but it still hides the identity. Moretta is oval mask in black velvet and was worn by women of all social classes, usually during the visits to the monastery. Larva is usually white and is worn with the hat and the cloak.

if you are looking for a escape into the beauty of the world then Venice is the place. it is the city your have dreamed for.
